Acquisition Section
This section is mainly responsible for acquisition of books. It collects the approvals or
recommendations from faculty members reviewed by Library Committee member of
different departments. Based on the approvals or recommendation, the library interacts
and places order to empanelled vendors of the University of Delhi. Then, the books are
accessioned in this section and transferred to the Technical Processing Section for
cataloguing, classification and indexing & database entry.
Technical Section
This section is responsible for processing of procured books and acts as a bridge
between Acquisition and Circulation Section. This section classifies and catalogues of
the procured books and sends the covers of books for display in New Arrivals Display
Area for two weeks’ period. After two weeks, Old covers replaced with new covers and
this process remains continue every year. All processed books are kept in stacks for
circulation. A core list of the processed books of every subject has been prepared and
mail to concern Library Committee Member in the end of the year.
Periodical Section
This section is mainly responsible for subscription and renewal of Print Journals,
Magazines and Newspapers. This section is also responsible for following the publisher
/ vendor for non-receiving issues, sending reminders and final disposal for issues not
received by the library. In the end of year, a core list of the loose issues of periodicals is
prepared and sent for binding.
Membership Section
This section is responsible for enrolment the user, send reminder for overdue, issue No
dues/Clearance Certificate etc.
Circulation Section
This section is mainly responsible for circulation (issue-return) of documents and
reservation of books to the users of the Library. This section acts as a bridge between
users and books.
Reference Section
This section is mainly helping users to find their required information from various
sources and also manage reference collection of Library. This section bridges the gap
between the users and the information resources.
